How to Build a Hive in BSS Reworked
Color ratios, gifted targets, and support bees that actually convert.
A hive in BSS Reworked is not a museum of every bee portrait. It is a machine that gathers a color, converts it, and occasionally kills a mob that interrupted the gather. Original Bee Swarm Simulator players already know this. New players treat royal jelly like a gacha and stall. This page is the build rules. Color-specific loadouts live on red hive, blue hive, and white hive. Rankings live on the bee tier list.
The three jobs in a honeycomb
Every slot should do at least one job:
- Gather — tokens and gather amount that fill the bag on your chosen field.
- Convert — honey per second at the hive so the bag is not a storage unit.
- Support — focus, haste, melody, baby love, marks, bubbles, flames, or bombs that make the other two jobs faster.
A bee that does none of the three is a placeholder. Basic Bee is a placeholder. Replace it as soon as getting started is done.
Color first, rarity second
Mythic bees are not automatically correct. A gifted Precise Bee on a blue hive is a tourist. Decide a color using the hive color tier list, then jelly toward that color. Keep off-color legendaries only if they are universal supports (Music, Baby, Carpenter, Vector in some white/mixed plans).
Early mixed hives are allowed. The rule is: once you own two or three bees that scream a color, stop rolling the opposite color “for collection.” Collection is how people miss rebirth timers.
Gifted is a multiplier, not a flex
Gifted bees add hive bonuses. A gifted Tabby or a gifted mythic is worth feeding star treats and favorite treats. A gifted Basic Bee is a cute badge. Spend treats in this order:
- Event bees you will never replace (Tabby, Digital, Gummy, Vicious, Photon, Windy).
- Mythics that match your color.
- Legendaries that match your color.
- Everything else never.
If this clone copied original treat odds, gifted from regular treats is rare. Do not dump billions of blueberries into a Rascal you will jelly away tomorrow.
Support tokens you actually need
Regardless of color, most endgame hives in this genre want:
- Baby Love producers (Baby Bee, gifted Tadpole in some plans).
- Melody (Music Bee).
- Focus (Looker / Commander / Precise marks depending on color).
- Haste (Hasty Bee, Ninja Bee) until boots make it less mandatory.
Red adds flames and Precise marks. Blue adds bubbles, balloons, and summons. White adds marks, fuzz bombs, and goo. If your hive has zero support tokens, you do not have a hive. You have a row of gather stats. Read the matching players page for counts instead of copying a screenshot with forty Precise bees and no convert.
Slots and levels
Buy slots when a bee is waiting, not to stare at empty wood. Levels come from treating and from gathering. In original BSS, levels cap in a way that makes gifted and mutation matter more than raw level. BSS Reworked may loosen caps (sister fangames advertise unlimited levels). If you can overlevel, still level the bees that match your color first. A level 35 off-color rare is a trap even if the screenshot looks dense.
The official media shows hives in the 12s and in the 21–35 range. That is the power band you are climbing toward, not a day-one screenshot to copy bee-for-bee.
Gear has to agree with the bees
A Diamond Mask on a red hive fights your own pollen. Tool, mask, guard, belt, and boots should follow the tools tier list and your color page. If you cannot afford the color tool yet, keep a porcelain-style all-rounder rather than buying the wrong scythe “because it looks cool.”
Amulets (star, ant, stick bug, king beetle, moon) should be rerolled toward your color’s pollen, convert, and crit. Do not lock a blue-heavy star amulet on a red account because the attack number looked big.
When to rebuild
Rebuild when you change color, when a changelog shifts a mythic, or when you finally own the mythic that defines a hive (Precise, Tadpole, Vector, Buoyant, Fuzzy, Spicy). Do not rebuild because a YouTube thumbnail said “new meta” for original BSS last Beesmas. Confirm the bee exists in this fangame first.
After a rebuild, go farm a honey window before you judge it. Token-based hives feel empty until haste and marks are up. Then either commit or swap using the rebirth tracker notes.
